Middle East & North Africa

Citizens in the Middle East and North Africa region need governments and societies that listen to their hopes, respond to their needs, and support their participation in economic and civic life.

Democracy and free markets based on equal opportunity and the rule of law are crucial to overcoming the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region’s economic challenges. Inclusive economic growth fueled by private enterprise can be a powerful unifying force in the face of authoritarianism and social and political divisions.

CIPE’s work in MENA focuses on promoting economic reform, democratic governance, and private sector development. CIPE collaborates with local partners and organizations across the region to strengthen transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in public and private-sector activities. CIPE empowers civil society organizations and business associations to become influential advocates for market-oriented reforms and represent their respective constituencies effectively. By fostering public-private dialogue, our partners in the region also help shape policies that promote sustainable and inclusive economic growth while confronting corruption, empowering women entrepreneurs, and upholding democratic values.

Through our partners’ efforts, CIPE contributes to building resilient, responsible, and participatory governance structures that help to support the development and prosperity of the region’s citizens.
