As a nonprofit, CIPE depends on funding from outside organizations for its survival.

Since 1983, CIPE has partnered with local business associations, chambers of commerce, universities, think tanks and advocacy groups to implement democratic and economic reform.

CIPE was founded on the idea that economic freedom and political freedom are intertwined and that progress and development comes through a combination of political and economic liberalization. Democratic consolidation is not achieved through solely holding elections, establishing a free press, and recognizing human rights (although these remain necessary components). Functioning democracies require opportunities, between election cycles, for the public to participate in the policy process. Functioning democracies also require a private sector that is capable and willing to provide input in the democratic process.

Work With Us

CIPE is a non-profit, private sector organization that provides financial support in the form of grants to non-government business organizations such as chambers of commerce, employers’ federations, trade associations, and private enterprise-oriented research groups throughout the world. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, business advocacy, democratic governance, and anti-corruption.

Never has the everyday work that CIPE performs been more vital. In countries around the world, citizens are turning to democratic and free market reform as a way to establish the fundamental conditions for freedom and prosperity. Your investment in CIPE will help us rise to this challenge, giving us the opportunity to build on our experience in ways that are more comprehensive, strategic, and powerful.
