Global Programs

Global threats to democratic and economic freedoms require locally driven, private sector-led responses.

Democracy is facing strategic threats around the world, exacerbated both by the economic and social challenges that many countries face and the transnational malign influence of authoritarian actors. Insufficient inclusion of underrepresented groups such as women and youth in democratic processes and economic opportunity often leads to widespread disillusionment. Meanwhile, corruption, non-transparent financial and investment flows, and the risks associated with the global digital transformation further weaken democratic and market institutions alike. To respond to these growing threats, CIPE Global Programs and CIPE’s Centers of Excellence pursue innovative strategies to strengthen democracy and markets. These thematic multi-regional programs aim to advance a positive future vision for democracy, build resilience and participation of a diverse local private sector and entrepreneurs, and help shore up trust in business and institutions.
