Sousena Tefera is an attorney and Senior Program Manager at CIPE. In her role at CIPE, Sousena is responsible for the design, implementation, evaluation, multi-stakeholder management and supervision of trade facilitation and modernization projects currently in Vietnam, Malawi, and Zambia. Sousena, in her previous role, served as trade legal advisor on issues ranging from procurement, contracts, and other Global Alliance Trade Facilitation secretariat’s legal matters.
Prior to joining the Trade team, she worked at the CIPE Africa as a Program Associate supporting the work of CIPE in empowerment and capacity building activities of the private sector in the sub-Saharan Africa. Before that, Sousena worked as a legal and regulatory researcher based out of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia with African Child Policy Forum and FHI 360.
Sousena holds her Bachelor of Laws from Addis Ababa University. She is a Thomas Buergenthal scholar while pursuing her LLM at the George Washington University.
