Bolivia’s Creative Economy: Opportunities for Economic Development and Civic Engagement

Case Studies

This book is a joint initiative between the Center for Studies of Economic and Social Reality (CERES) and the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). The research delves into the pressing need for Bolivia to shift from a state-led, extractivist economic development model to a more private sector-centric model that leverages the creativity of Bolivian entrepreneurs.  The creative economy, encompassing diverse sectors reliant on innovation, is presented as a solution that can empower individuals, generate employment, and contribute to overall economic well-being. The book reframes the debate on entrepreneurship and private enterprise in Bolivia, positioning the creative economy as a catalyst for sustainable economic development, with a specific focus on Cochabamba as a potential hub for creative industries.
