Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Guatemala

CIPE runs a Women’s Business Resource Center (“WBRC” or “Corali”) in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in order to address gender-based economic disparities and support women’s inclusion in local Guatemalan communities. Corali is a centralized, safe physical space where women from all backgrounds can access vital resources to help them fulfill their economic aspirations.

Strengthening Economic Ecosystems and Democracy

Through this program, CIPE aims to strengthen the capacity and accountability of government officials as they implement economic, social, and security reform plans and policies in Guatemala. CIPE and the National Economic Research Center (CIEN) will monitor crime rates and legislative activity, advocate for improved policies to strengthen the rule of law, and develop digitization strategies for the government.

Creative Economies Support in Central America

CIPE and four partners are implementing a new regional project, “Colmena Naranja – CONA” (Orange Hive), in three communities in Guatemala and one in El Salvador. This initiative promotes the development of youth entrepreneurial talent in the “orange economy,” otherwise known as the creative economy. CIPE and its partners are working together to support creative entrepreneurs by providing them with technical support and encouraging regional democratic participation.

This initiative builds on the success of the original ‘Xelajú Naranja’ (‘Orange Quetzaltenango’) project, successfully implemented in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala.
