As the International Education Week and the Global Entrepreneurship Week are drawing to a close, CIPE is putting finishing touches on its new and exciting electronic tool, pilot Development Institute website, which will shortly become available here: www.developmentinstitute.org.
There are a lot of misconceptions about how democracies function, what they entail, and how to make them work. Similarly, misunderstandings about market economy and the role of business in development are just as plentiful. The most troubling, however, is the fact that such misconceptions are often held by young people – the future generation of leaders. The Development Institute seeks to address those common misconceptions and explores development issues from the perspective of the need to build democratic institutions and implement market-oriented reforms.
CIPE Development Institute is an open-access online platform for students around the world to learn about development issues. It is a joint effort of a distinguished group of international scholars and CIPE partners featured in interactive sessions. Users can:
- Learn international perspectives on development issues;
- Access multimedia presentations, lesson plans, and study materials;
- Follow up on suggested readings; and
- Share thoughts through an online forum.
