Claude G.B. Fontheim

Claude Fontheim is the CEO of Fontheim International, LLC and has over 35 years of experience in the fields of global corporate social responsibility (CSR) and public policy, and has successfully advised numerous global businesses, civil society organizations, government officials and campaigns.

Mr. Fontheim’s work includes the development of innovative CSR policies and programs; crisis avoidance, management and resolution; reputation management; advocacy; and stakeholder engagement and partnerships (including with labor, human rights, women’s, development and other civil society organizations). He was among the first CSR practitioners.

Mr. Fontheim has worked on numerous trade negotiations, policy debates, and almost every significant piece of trade legislation since 1981.  He previously served on the President’s Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiations, the U.S. Trade Representative’s Trade Advisory Committee on Africa, the State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy, and as Chairman of the Democratic Leadership Council’s Project on the Global Economy & Trade.

Mr. Fontheim has served as an advisor on trade, economic and foreign policy to Presidential and Congressional campaigns. He was also a partner in a global law firm.

Mr. Fontheim received his J.D., M.P.P., and B.A. from the University of Michigan where he graduated with High Honors, High Distinction, Phi Beta Kappa, and was Managing Editor of Michigan’s international law publication.
