Georgia’s Business Associations, Business Support Organizations, and Regional Businesses
According to data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT), SMEs constitute 89.1% of registered active business entities as of January 1, 2023. These enterprises, scattered across the country, are pivotal in job creation, accounting for 59.3% of employment within the business sector. Moreover, they contribute significantly to the sector’s total turnover, making up 37.3% of the business sector’s revenue.
The consulting firm PMO conducted this study regarding business associations, business support organizations, and regional enterprises as part of the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) project “Georgia – Building Strong and Inclusive Business Associations.” The project is funded by the National Endowment for Democracy (NED).
The research delves into various aspects, including the activities, existing services, and challenges faced by associations and support organizations in the region, as well as the needs of regional SMEs and the barriers hampering collaboration between sectoral associations, support service providers, and SMEs.
