The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) strengthens democracy around the globe through private enterprise and market-oriented reform. CIPE is one of the four core institutes of the National Endowment for Democracy and an affiliate of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Since 1983, CIPE has worked with business leaders, policymakers, and journalists to build the civic institutions vital to a democratic society. CIPE’s key program areas include enterprise ecosystems, business advocacy, democratic governance, and anti-corruption & ethics.

FEDN Statement on Salvadoran Government Attempt to Prevent Pro-Democracy Groups from Participating in Community of Democracy Meetings

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following the actions of the Salvadoran government to attempt to prevent an accredited private sector representative from participating in the recent Community of Democracies (COD) Ministerial meetings hosted by the Salvadoran government, the Free Enterprise and Democracy Network (FEDN) issued a statement today expressing alarm at their behavior.

CIPE Partner Report Shows Isis Control of Oil Fields Funds Terrorism

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Syrian Economic Forum (SEF) has released a study of Syrian oil production and trade which shows that 80 percent of Syria’s oil fields are controlled by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), providing around $3 million a day in funding for the terrorist organization.
