Marta Tsehay Sewasew is a Program Manager at the Center for International Private Enterprise East Africa Regional Office in Ethiopia. She started in November 2019. She is managing a Program Supported by Democracy Human Rights and Labor (DRL) which is working to enhance the civic engagement of civil society organizations and the private sector.
Marta has ten years of experience working in the United Nations, international and local Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO), and the government. She has managed national and regional level programs in the areas of employment, decent work, youth empowerment, girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment &, reproductive health, and children support projects.
Due to her engagements in Ethiopia and regionally, Marta has participated in different youth leadership programs regionally and internationally. She is a MILEAD fellow, for the Moremi Initiative Leadership Program, being selected among the 26 ”Outstanding Young Emerging Leaders” from Africa. She is also among the 13 young Ethiopians who participated on Mandela Washington Fellowship program, the flagship program of President Barack Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Program.
Marta has a Master of Arts Degree in Social Work, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology, and a Civic Leadership diploma from Wagner College. Marta speakers Amharic, English and basic French.
