Katherine Kinnaird is Senior Evaluation Specialist for CIPE’s Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF) projects. She supports CIPE’s Trade Team in the monitoring and evaluation of projects throughout their scoping, design and development, implementation, and reporting phases. Her work involves close collaboration with CIPE’s Trade Team, CIPE’s partners in the Global Alliance for Trade Facilitation (GATF), and the CIPE Evaluation Team.
Kinnaird joined CIPE in October 2020 with a background in development and analysis of education and mental health projects, particularly in crisis and conflict settings. Prior to CIPE, she worked as a Program Development and Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist on education and mental health projects for refugees with an American nonprofit in the West Bank of Palestine. She has experience serving in a teaching, research, and monitoring and evaluation capacity on projects with diverse public and private funding sources in North America, Africa, Europe, and the Middle East. Her work has included projects aimed at supporting survivors of domestic violence in Morocco, expanding environmental education among youth in Madagascar, designing evening classes for out-of-school children and youth in the Kurdish Region of Iraq (KRI), facilitating access to medical and education services for Iraqi, Syrian, Afghan, Iranian, and Kurdish refugees in Greece, and marketing USAID’s Education in Crisis and Conflict Network (ECCN) at the Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) conference in 2017. She has also served in a formal teaching capacity at an IB school for girls in Jordan and in a policy capacity at the Moroccan American Center for Policy in Washington, DC. Kinnaird is a co-author of “Empowering Students to Improve the World in 60 Lessons – Version 1.0.”
Kinnaird holds a BA in Religion with concentrations in Middle Eastern Studies and American Racial and Multicultural Studies from St. Olaf College. She holds a MA in Religion in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Yale University and a Ed.M. in International Education Policy with a Child Protection Certificate from Harvard University. CIPE sponsored Kinnaird to become a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) in January 2022 and she will begin her Ed.D. in Human and Organizational Learning at the George Washington University Graduate School of Education and Human Development in fall 2022.
