Moldova – On July 27-28, Tatiana Lariushin, senior economist at CIPE partner organization the Institute for Development and Social Initiatives (IDSI), participated in a two-day workshop of Moldova’s National Participation Council (NPC). The NPC is a high-level platform for policy dialogue consisting of representatives from key government ministries, civil society, and the private sector. During the workshop, participants discussed the NPC’s activity plan for the next two years. Ms. Lariushin shared lessons from the National Business Agenda (NBA) process where the civil society and the private sector led a discussion with government on priorities for economic reform. NPC members included lessons from the NBA network’s participation in the policy dialogue in several documents developed at this workshop. The NBA network consists of over 30 business associations and chambers of commerce across Moldova and was established in 2008 with support from CIPE and IDSI with a goal to develop private sector capacity for policymaking.
