Weekly Update: MENA

Iraq – The Karbala Chamber of Commerce cooperated with CIPE to conduct the fourth in a series of private sector-led advocacy events for recommendations in the Karbala Provincial Business Agenda. Participants addressed issues inhibiting growth to Karbala’s industrial sector. The Karbala Governor committed to working with the private sector to resolve issues related to Iraq’s transitions to a free market economy. In addition to the governor, 75 participants contributed to the event, including representatives of the Karbala Provincial Investment Commission, provincial government, provincial council, business associations, and academia. Several media outlets covered the event, including Baghdad, Al-Ghadeer, Al-Alem, and Al-Forat satellite channels.
