There have been a diverse array of democratic experiences in Asia recently, with some countries showing encouraging signs of democratic consolidation while others clearly demonstrate the fragility of their democratic institutions. CIPE is continuing to address the long-standing problems of corruption, cronyism, and lack of transparency and accountability in governance through economic reform initiatives and efforts to strengthen democratic values. Throughout the region, CIPE works with business association, think tanks, and reform advocates to cultivate greater and more effective private sector participation in policymaking. In addition, CIPE strives to create solutions to high levels of informality, to promote the private sector role in democratic society through improved corporate governance and participation in public policy dialogue, and to develop leadership capability within the private sector and civil society. |
