Country Focus: CIPE projects designed to identify
and reduce barriers to formality and business costs

Reducing barriers to formality and business costs is a multi-step process that involves:

  • Identifying obstacles to formality and sources of high business costs;

  • Raising awareness about these barriers and costs within the private sector, the general public and the policymaking community;

  • Mobilizing members of the private sector and the public to advocate for concrete legal and regulatory reforms that will reduce these barriers and costs; and

  • Reducing barriers and costs through governmental passage and implementation of recommended policy changes and reforms.

The CIPE projects listed in this section are in various stages of this process.
