The Higher School of Business was formed by National Louis University and Polish private foundation sources. It offers undergraduate business education to over 2,000 students from Poland and Slovakia, stressing language training, information systems, and executive business training. In May 1995, the weekly "Wprost" ranked HSB first among private schools, and second among all schools (private and state) offering business programs in Poland. The Higher School of Business (HSB) in Nowy Sacz has worked in its own region of Malopolska to successfully pioneer a governance model of regional cooperation. The "Malopolska Model" actively engages local government, the business community, local non-governmental organizations, and the media, in exercises designed to inform them of their role in local economic and democratic development, and to encourage active participation in the process through a series of conferences, meetings, and training activities.
