CIPE's Hungary program, in
partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development
(USAID), undertook the objectives of assisting Hungary in its
transformation to a democratic society and private-sector-led
economy and to attain full-integration into the Western world's
international political and economic systems and institutions.
Between 1989-1999, CIPE supported 20 local Hungarian organizations
to conduct approximately 40 projects. The CIPE/Hungary office
also held regular Economic Policy Roundtables, hosted three
Business Association Management Training and sponsored a couple
major conferences. The CIPE/Hungary office closed in June
1999. The impact of these projects, as well as CIPE's overall
contribution to the economic and political development of
Hungary are discussed in the evaluation conducted by Professor
Paul Marer of Indiana University and are available below in
an Adobe Acrobat format. If you would like a printed edition
of this report, please email us at forum@cipe.org
