Conference featured four speakers from the US

  • Willard Workman, Vice President of CIPE and the US Chamber of Commerce. He explained the importance of corporate governance by describing what investors expect from companies. (Read his speech now)

  • Dan Konigsburg of Institutional Shareholder Services. He described how the institution of boards of directors serve as an instrument of corporate governance. (Read his speech now)

  • John Stephens of the Washington, D.C.-based Global Environment Fund, gave a hands-on overview of the competition for global investments. He gave a candid assessment of weaknesses that Russia must overcome before attracting significant amounts of foreign investment.

  • Stephen Deane, CIPE Senior Program Officer. He moderated the final panel and was responsible for overall organization of the event, in cooperation with the Russian hosts.
