Seminar Speakers

Igor Belikov, General Director of the Institute for Stock Market and Management in Moscow. He gave an overview of current efforts by the Russian Federal Commission on the Securities Market, together with civil society organizations and the private sector, to develop a Russian corporate governance code.

Viktor Dronov, Chairman of the Ekaterinburg Committee for Shareholder Rights, who described corporate governance initiatives in the regions.

Alexander Ikonnikov, Executive Director of the Investors' Protection Association in Moscow. He described his organization's efforts to protect the rights of investors and minority shareholders, and to place independent directors on corporate boards.

Dan Konigsburg, Senior Analyst at Institutional Shareholder Services in Rockville, Maryland. He gave an overview of the principles of corporate governance and the functions of boards of directors in ensuring transparency and accountability.

Elena Krasnitskaya, Corporate governance expert at Troika Dialog, a brokerage firm in Moscow. She gave the perspective of private business on risk management and the need for corporate governance.

Svetlana Zholnerchik, A university instructor and corporate governance expert from St. Petersburg, and Igor Logvinov, Chairman of the Siberian Center of Investment Policy. They gave an overview of the legislative framework in Russia on corporate governance.
