CIPE's Global Editorial Cartoon Competition Winners Announced

Nine Winners Chosen by Voters from 1,000 Entries, 73 Countries
Washington, DC – The  nine winners of a new cartoon contest sponsored by the Center of International Private Enterprise (CIPE) were announced today. Artists from Indonesia, Israel, and Afghanistan placed first in the categories of Democracy, Corruption, and Gender Equality, respectively. The Global Editorial Cartoon Contest reinforces CIPE’s conviction that the freedom of expression is essential for democratic accountability.

CIPE Opens Public Voting for Inaugural Global Editorial Cartoon Competition

Washington, DC – The Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) has opened online voting for the first annual CIPE Global Editorial Cartoon Competition. A panel of distinguished judges has carefully reviewed nearly 1,000 cartoons submitted from 73 countries worldwide on three topics – Democracy, Corruption, and Gender Equality.

Combating Corruption and Promoting Transparency in Thai Businesses

Bangkok, Thailand – On Monday October 17, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the Thai Institute of Directors (IOD) hosted Thailand’s second Annual Conference on Collective Action Against Corruption. This year’s conference, “Promoting Transparency in the Thai Market Place,” featured keynote speeches by the head of Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission and CIPE Knowledge Management Director Dr. Kim Bettcher. The conference was held at the Royal Méridien Hotel on Wireless Road in Bangkok.

CIPE Youth Essay Contest Seeks Young Voices on Democratic and Economic Development

Washington, DC – For the fourth year, the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) invites youth (aged 18-30) from around the world to tell their stories about democratic and economic development.

In order to help determine this year’s essay topics, CIPE polled participants from its previous three essay contests. In 2011, CIPE is accepting essays in three categories:

Peruvian Entrepreneurship Education Program Wins CIPE 2011 Leading Practices Contest

Washington, DC – A Peruvian program that teaches young people about the benefits of entrepreneurship and democracy has taken first place in a contest held by the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE). CIPE launched the Leading Practices Contest in 2011 to recognize innovation and good practice in the field of democratic and market reform. The contest’s objective is to facilitate transfers of knowledge among CIPE’s international network of reform leaders.

Guidelines on Corporate Governance for State-Owned Enterprises released by the Institute of Directors and CIPE

Beirut, Lebanon - The Institute of Directors (IOD), in partnership with the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) and the Lebanese Transparency Association (LTA), released a new resource entitled Corporate Governance for Lebanese State-Owned Enterprises to incorporate a framework of good governance and improve fairness, transparency, accountability, and responsibility for the overall investment climate.
