Meet the 2016 Photo Competition Winner

CIPE is pleased to announce the winner of the 2016 Photo Competition! The theme of the 2016 competition was highlighting creative and inspiring visuals that demonstrate democratic leadership or individuals advocating for democratic values and reform.

CIPE received 36 submissions from 18 different countries.

The winner of the 2016 Photo Competition is the Crafts Council of Kyrgyzstan with a winning photo that features the president of the Crafts Council of Kyrgyzstan, Karybekov Janyl.

The Crafts Council of Kyrgyzstan protects the rights of artisans at the state level, and works closely with international organizations to achieve its goals. Through the Crafts Council, artisans from around the country are able to contribute to new laws such as the “Law of Craftsmanship,” a law that encouraged the creation of the craft sector within the Ministry of Culture, protecting economic and democratic rights of artisans.

CIPE sends its congratulations to the Crafts Council of Kyrgyzstan, and a thank you to all other participants of the competition.
