On an Ad-Venture in Nepal

In 2007, the Atlas Economic Research Foundation began awarding the Dorian and Antony Fisher Venture Grants. $100,000 of funding is provided to the winning organizations over a three year period, along with technical assistance and capacity building to ensure the organizations have a local base of support and continuing income through which they may remain sustainable. Grants are awarded only to young think tanks; each winner is less than eight years old, supporting the development of new civil society institutions in countries around the world.

Atlas reported last week on its 2009 winners. Five organizations won funding, including CIPE partner Samriddhi, The Prosperity Foundation, located in Kathmandu, Nepal. CIPE and Samriddhi are working together on a program to bring university students information on entrepreneurship, advocacy, and democratic change in a country going through a tough transition. Congratulations to all the folks at Samriddhi – we’re proud to be one of your partners!
